Hydroxyl UV Lamp Efficacy Summary

CETEC & Doherty Institute — Independent antimicrobial efficacy testing for surfaces and air

1. Credibility of Testing Facilities

CETEC Pty Ltd (Australia) is an established scientific consulting laboratory specializing in air quality, microbiology, and environmental chemistry and conducted surface efficacy testing using internationally recognized standards including ASTM E2197-17 and AOAC Hard Surface Carrier Test Methods.

Analytical MicroLabs, accredited to ISO/IEC 17025, performed microbial enumeration, quantification, and verification of surface kill results for both bacteria and viruses.

The Doherty Institute (University of Melbourne & Royal Melbourne Hospital) is a world-leading infectious disease research institute. SARS-CoV-2 efficacy testing was conducted under BSL-3 containment using the VIC01 clinical isolate, under the supervision of Dr. Julie McAuley and Prof. Damian Purcell.

2. Description of Tests Performed

The OH-Feel Hydroxyl UV Lamp Module was evaluated for its ability to inactivate microorganisms both in the air and on hard surfaces.

Organisms tested:

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1)
  • SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)

Testing included contaminated hard-surface carriers, exposure periods of 30, 60, 120, and 240 minutes, microbial enumeration before and after exposure, and airborne viral exposure trials conducted at the Doherty Institute.

A key scientific finding demonstrated that hydroxyl radicals cascaded outward from the lamp and deposited onto surfaces, producing high log-kill results and confirming that the technology actively sanitizes surfaces in addition to treating air.

3. Surface Efficacy Results

Pseudomonas aeruginosa (hard surfaces):

  • 10-log reduction at 30 minutes
  • 10-log reduction at 60 minutes
  • 9-log reduction at 120 minutes
  • 11-log reduction at 240 minutes

A 10-log reduction corresponds to 99.99999999% microbial elimination, representing essentially complete sterilization.

Staphylococcus aureus (hard surfaces):

  • 9-log reduction at 30 minutes
  • 10-log reduction at 60 minutes
  • 9-log reduction at 120 minutes
  • 9-log reduction at 240 minutes

These results represent hospital-grade sterilization performance.

HSV-1 (Herpes Simplex Virus):

  • 5-log reduction at 30 minutes
  • 5-log reduction at 60 minutes
  • 4–6-log reduction at 120 minutes
  • 3–4-log reduction at 240 minutes

4. SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Viral Efficacy — Doherty Institute

  • Statistically significant viral reduction detected within 30 minutes
  • Approximately 99.2% reduction (≈2.1-log) after 90 minutes
  • All testing conducted in BSL-3 containment using the VIC01 SARS-CoV-2 isolate

This represents one of the strongest and most credible SARS-CoV-2 efficacy validations currently available in the hydroxyl technology field.

5. Summary Statement

Independent testing conducted by CETEC, Analytical MicroLabs, and the Doherty Institute confirms up to 11-log bacterial kill on hard surfaces, up to 6-log viral kill on surfaces, strong airborne SARS-CoV-2 reduction validated by a world-class research institute, and continuous dispersion of hydroxyl radicals that contact surfaces and inactivate pathogens safely.

Testing Period: July–August 2020
